Add a CommentJohn Wayne is fantastic !
By far this is one of the best 'epic' movies Hollywood has ever produced; everyone and his dog is in this film and the fact that it's just the events shown from both sides is brilliant- there's none of the usual tripe of US war films. The Longest Day is up there with Bridge on the River Kwai, Battle of Britain, A Bridge Too Far, and Letters from Iwo Jima.
A marvelously well done movie-really shows the tragic happenings of World War II. John Wayne really portrays the strength of a general! I like in the beginning they have germans actually speaking in german! So many movies have different nationalities speaking English when it is not historically correct! This movie is worth the three hours! :) Great ending. Wow.
There were many movies which were showing invasion to normandy of occupied Frace but this is one of them showing what happened on omaha beach without exaggeration. Everytime I watch this movie, I'm proud of our grandpas who fought against Nazi Germany. This movie also shows views from German officers on omaha beach and at headquaters. I love this movie because of this.
